Guess what we did yesterday?

We played in the snow...in TEXAS!!!
On Saturday we heard the rumor that it was supposed to snow at least 6 inches on Sunday. We didn't dare tell Kathryn. She would be soooo disappointed if she was expecting it and it didn't happen. It was raining like crazy all Sunday morning. Everyone at church was talking about the expected snow in the afternoon. I was so hoping they were right. And if they were, I couldn't wait to surprise Kathryn with it.
Josh does not have pink or orange gloves on. Those are his hands, his very cold hands.
After coming home from church, changing, starting lunch, and about to start a movie, I peeked though the closed blinds and seriously my stomach started tickling when I called for kids to come look. Snow was falling! We did the funnest happy dance ever.

I started digging through bins to find their snow stuff from last year. Let me tell you, clear storage bins are the best! The kids put on snowsuits, squeezed into boots, zipped their jackets, and bolted out the door for fun. They caught falling snow with their tongues. They ate it with their hands. They ran. They stomped. They made snowballs. They slid down the slide. They fell. They rolled. The perfect ending to playing in the snow? A warm bowl of noodle soup. And hot chocolate.
While we warmed up it kept snowing for about 3 more hours. Every roof top was bright white. All the lawns were completely smothered with no grass popping through. It was so pretty!
Snow,
We think you look beautiful on mountain tops. Your bright white compliments the green trees perfectly. We love that you're flaky because we love catching you on our tongues. We love when you don't exist in our daily lives. But, we love you even more when you visit. Please feel free to visit us each year, even a couple of times a year!

Love,
the Ellingsons
