First Attempt. K has had a loose tooth for a couple of weeks now. W has been itching to just pull it out for her, but she wasn't having any of it. He's used phrases like, I'm dentist. I'm really good at pulling teeth out. It won't even hurt. It'll be really fast and then the tooth fairy will come! Nothing worked until he said The tooth fairy brings more money to the kids that let their parents pull their tooth out. Good one, right? I'm not sure where the logic is on that one, but it worked and K agreed to let Daddy pull her tooth out.
Everyone is excited.
Not as loose as we thought and a squirmy 6 year old made it a little hard for Daddy to make it quick. K got upset and started whining about it hurting.
Well, J wasn't happy about K not being happy so he got mad at Daddy for making K not happy. Follow that? Then he hit Daddy, yelled at him, and followed it up by crying all because Daddy hurt K. Then K's whining turned to crying and it was a loud crying fest.
(after we calmed down all the crying)
That was clearly unsuccessful.
We learned that we will let K's teeth all fall out on their own and don't mess with K because you will have to answer to her little brother.
About 10 days later K was eating an afternoon snack (a soft roll) and dancing around the living room. All of a sudden she exclaimed, "My tooth! It came out!"
And we all smiled, cheered, ooh-ed and ahh-ed.
That was successful and clearly more fun.
